Bookmobile Service

The Lincoln City Libraries Bookmobiles are full-service mobile libraries designed to connect people to books, technology, and resources, right in their neighborhoods.

Whether you're across town or across the county, we’re making it easier to access everything the library has to offer.

Bringing the Bookmobile to You

We love partnering with community groups, schools, and local events. Request the bookmobile at your neighborhood or event!

Please note: To help keep our bookmobiles stocked with high-demand, popular, and timely materials, items on the bookmobiles are not available for hold fulfillment at branch locations. These collections are thoughtfully curated for neighborhoods and communities that may have limited access to a nearby library branch, helping ensure customers at bookmobile stops have the same opportunity to discover and check out popular items in person. If an item you’d like to borrow is currently on the bookmobile, we invite you to visit us at one of our upcoming stops.

1941

Bookmobile service began through a Works Progress Administration program, delivering books to rural Lancaster County.

1970s

A “Mini-Bookmobile” (a converted Winnebago!) launched with 17 stops. By 1981, service expanded to 23 locations and nearly 34,000 annual checkouts.

2012

The Lied Bookmobile was introduced, replacing a long-serving vehicle later repurposed by Lincoln Fire & Rescue.

2020

The Bookmobile team launched an innovative “Deposit Service” during the COVID-19 pandemic, delivering rotating collections to 14 facilities every two weeks. The service reached more than 500 users and provided access to over 15,000 materials.
