Lincoln City Libraries Community Programs Set for April 11 and 12
Lincoln City Libraries invites community members to a series of events April 11 and 12 highlighting new services, community storytelling, and literary engagement. The events are as follows:
Open Houses
On Saturday, April 11, LCL will host two open houses featuring its two new bookmobiles. Attendees will tour the vehicles and enjoy Storytime, music, balloon art, and other family activities. The events are at 10:30 a.m. in Iron Horse Park, 235 N. 7th St.; and at 2 p.m. at the Firth Community Center, 311 Nemaha St., Firth, NE.
Stories of Us Event
LCL will host “Stories of Us” a family event celebrating stories, culture, and imagination from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Bennett Martin Public Library, 136 S. 14th St. The program features children’s author Janice Harrington, a former Lincoln resident, and Nebraska State Poet Jewel Rodgers, with a special appearance by the Lincoln Public Schools Equity Cadre. The event includes activities, giveaways, and free books and is funded by an Innovation Grant from the Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries.
Ames Reading Series
At 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, the Ames Reading Series will feature Nebraska author Mike Bockoven. Author of the novels FantasticLand, Pack, Killing It, and “Come Knocking.” Bockoven will discuss his work, writing process, and influences. Books will be available for purchase and signing following the event.
