1941
Bookmobile service began through a Works Progress Administration program, delivering books to rural Lancaster County.
1970s
A “Mini-Bookmobile” (a converted Winnebago!) launched with 17 stops. By 1981, service expanded to 23 locations and nearly 34,000 annual checkouts.
2012
The Lied Bookmobile was introduced, replacing a long-serving vehicle later repurposed by Lincoln Fire & Rescue.
Pandemic Innovation
A “Deposit Service” delivered rotating collections to 14 facilities, reaching 500+ users every two weeks and providing access to 15,000+ materials.
