Lincoln City Libraries Receives Grant to Expand Technology Program

Lincoln City Libraries has announced it has received a $5,838 AARP Community Challenge grant to expand its Technology Basics Workshops. The program is designed to help residents strengthen digital connections and improve digital literacy skills.

Workshops begin in September at the Walt Branch Library, 6701 S. 14th St., and will cover topics such as getting started with computers, using the internet and email, understanding cybersecurity, videoconferencing, and mobile device basics.

“More than 160 people participated in our previous Technology Basics Workshop series, highlighting the strong demand for digital literacy education,” said Wyatt Packard, Walt Branch Library Manager. “With AARP’s investment, we’re excited to expand these valuable workshops to Walt Branch Library and continue helping residents build the skills they need to stay connected.”

The grant will allow LCL to offer six weekly workshops and 24 one-on-one Technology Time appointments. Funding will also enhance the branch’s Collaborative Learning Lab and upgrade technology used in classes. To register, call Lincoln City Libraries at 402-441-4460.
