Changes in Our Book Acquisitions Process

Baker & Taylor, a longtime distributor of library materials, recently announced the end of its distribution services to public libraries across the U.S., marking the close of a significant chapter in the library industry. Fortunately, Lincoln City Libraries had anticipated possible changes in the marketplace and took proactive steps several months ago to prepare for such a transition. By establishing a new partnership with Ingram Library Services, the library positioned itself to maintain strong and reliable access to new books and media.

While patrons may notice delays in the arrival of some new materials during this transition period, library staff are working closely with Ingram and other partners to minimize disruptions. These actions ensure that Lincoln City Libraries can continue to deliver a rich variety of new and expected materials to the community.

What this means for you:

  • There may be delays for new materials during the transition.
  • Popular titles may not be available on their release dates.
  • Some holds may cancel and need to be reset, please keep an eye on your account to replace missing holds, or give us a call at 402-441-8500.

The library appreciates your patience and understanding as we navigate the shift toward a more resilient and responsive supply chain.
