Roone: A Memoir by Roone Arledge [791.452 Arl]
Roone Arledge is the man behind ABC Wide World of Sports and the broadcasts of the Olympics. Interesting behind-the-scenes stories of how he began his career and won the contracts to broadcast the various sporting events. He pioneered "slow-motion replay" and other sports broadcasting techniques that are now standard. Especially interesting, and poignant, is the chapter on the Munich Olympics when the terrorist group Black September took over the athletic compound to take the Israeli athletes hostage. He also discusses his tenure as head of ABC News.Recommended by Charlotte K. Reference Department -- Bennett Martin Public Library
