About Kwanzaa

Kinnara graphic 2008 marks the 43rd annual Kwanzaa celebration! Kwanzaa is celebrated from December 26th-January 1st. It is modeled on the end of year harvest festivals that have been celebrated in Africa for thousands of years. The name comes from the Swahili phrase "matunda ya kwanza", which means "fruits of the harvest."
